3DVirtualAfrica work collaboratively with architects, Virtual Reality and CAD engineers to capture detailed 3D point cloud data of existing buildings for a range of different uses. The 3D scanning of each project creates an extremely accurate point cloud of the interior- delivered in a xyz format. Exported point clouds, floor plans, and reflected ceiling plans can be imported into CAD/BIM programs such as ArchiCad; AutoCAD and Revit.

Option B:

This option is suitable for architects who have the time and man-power available to do the initial Cad drawing themselves, when working on a project where NO floor plans or drawings are available. Architects will be provided with only a 3D interactive Virtual Showcase and point cloud but will need to draw the Cad drawings for the as-built themselves.

Case studies proved that as-built modeling time can be reduced by 50% and that architects gain 15% more business, due to the use of the 3D Data Point cloud.

Many Architects produce as-built documentation for all of their projects. For complex homes, offices and renovation projects, these can be difficult and time consuming. Hand-drawn, manual plans often miss details or leave out anomalies. This can result in many return visits for up to 33% of all projects.

3DVirtualAfrica scan these spaces first. Point clouds are generated and consist of many 3 dimensional data points, which together form a highly accurate 3D representation of an existing interior space. The scanning process also captures RGB colour data, which can be applied to the point cloud. The point cloud data can then be imported into any of the CAD software programs as a scale to begin drawing. Because the Matterport floor plan is dimensionally accurate, it can also be used to identify walls containing plumbing or other features via thickness. By navigating the immersive 3D Showcase provided, architects can easily clarify unusual or complicated features, which might not have been captured at all.

By using this point cloud data, architects can speed up the as-built drawing process by 2x, and are now able to accommodate 15% more business, provide more competitive prices and meet deadlines on time.

A schematic floor plan can be provided from each 3D Showcase.

These schematic floor plans not only include individual room measurements and illustrations of property features, but also include the total floor area calculation.

Each schematic floor plan includes the estimated size of the property based on the floor area of the uploaded model.

The size is based on the Gross Internal Area (GIA) which is calculated from the inside perimeter of the property and includes all internal areas excluding voids or areas below 1.5m head-height.

Garages, conservatories and patios will not be included in the internal area calculation.

Beside the area calculation of the property, schematic floor plans also includes the following information regarding the property:

• An area calculation for individual floors
• Individual room measurements
• Room labels/ names
• Illustrations of permanent features (such as kitchen units, toilets, sinks and bathtubs)
